Who we are
JEE Nerds runs this website. Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, we are responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at nerdsjee@gmail.com, or at 400A, 4th Floor, 12 Ajit Singh House, Yusuf Sarai Commercial Complex, Green Park, New Delhi 110016.
What we collect
When you create an account
- your email address and a password (stored scrambled by our sign-in provider — we never see it);
- your date of birth, so we know whether you are under 18;
- optionally, a display name and the exam and year you are preparing for.
When you practise
- the questions you attempt, your answers, and how long you took;
- anything you tag or note — confidence, why you got a question wrong, your mistake notebook;
- your study planner, revision progress and syllabus tracker, including notes you write in them.
This is what powers your progress, your weak-topic list and spaced repetition. It is the most personal data we hold, and we treat it that way.
When you pay
- which plan you bought, the amount, the date, and Razorpay’s payment reference.
Your card, UPI or bank details are entered on Razorpay’s payment page and never reach us. Razorpay also collects what it needs to process the payment, such as your phone number, under its own privacy policy.
Automatically
- your IP address, used only to stop repeated sign-in and sign-up attempts. It is deleted after about a day.
- some things, like a practice run in progress and your display preferences, are saved in your own browser rather than on our servers. You can clear them any time from Account → Data.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or rent your data to anyone.
- We don’t show ads, and we never use your practice data to target advertising.
- We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking tools. The only cookies we set are the ones that keep you signed in.
If you’re under 18
Indian law treats anyone under 18 as a child, and most students preparing for JEE are. So we ask for your date of birth when you sign up. If you are under 18, your account is not activated, and we do not record any practice, until a parent or guardian has agreed. Until then, we only hold what you entered to sign up.
You can always switch something off, or ask us to delete your account, without needing a parent to do it.
Who we share it with
Only the companies we need to run the site, and only for that:
- Supabase — our database and sign-in;
- Vercel — hosts the website;
- Razorpay — processes payments;
- an email delivery service — sends account emails, such as confirming your address.
The website runs on servers in Mumbai, India. We would also share data if the law required us to.
How long we keep it
- Your account and practice data: for as long as you have an account.
- When you delete your account, we delete your account, your practice data and your payment history with us.
- We keep a copy of each payment notification Razorpay sends us — it can include the email address and phone number used to pay — so a payment dispute can be looked into. These stay after an account is deleted.
- IP addresses: about a day.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that’s wrong;
- delete your account and your data;
- stop using your data for something you had agreed to;
- let someone else act for you if you are unable to.
Email nerdsjee@gmail.com from the address on your account, with “Data request” in the subject. We will reply as quickly as we can, and within the time the law requires.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, email nerdsjee@gmail.com with “Grievance” in the subject — this is our grievance contact. If we don’t resolve it, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you before it applies.
